The intro was deceptively laid back, the song built well and the vocal when it made its appearance, was soooo good!
I will admit that I don’t go much in for slow songs but, the voice won the day here.
It is rare we hear a vocal so assured in its quality that it just gets on with the task – deliver the lyrics, entertain and just rely on the natural talent to keep the listener hooked in.
Instrumentally, I didn’t feel there was anything special, it was all a bit “safe” in that respect but, it was the perfect vehicle and backdrop for the voice. Tuneful, amazing tone and a touch of a smoky presence too.
Yeah, this is one of those songs that you could pop on and listen to – whatever mood you’re in. Great stuff!
