So, We don’t review albums but, this one deserves a special mention. I gave this a first listen through in it’s entirety this morning – The Ordinary People, the new album from Blue Nation.

What do I think of it? Well… It’s pretty awesome actually… If you think of Crowded House with a bluesy edge and classic rock vibes sneaking through. Shades of Rival Sons in places – especially on ‘Hand Me Down’ – and the hair on the back of my neck was left standing a little by ‘The Reason’ which blended a bit of Sting, RJD vocals with a beastly groovy riff.

Some cracking tunes, excellent playing and one of the most complete vocals out there today. Not to take anything away from the other two band members though because there is a real tightness and quality to the playing and an obvious understanding between this trio to just write and perform great tunes.

The only thing I felt on listening was that track 2 should have made it’s appearance a little later – a bit soon to take the tempo down but, that’s just me.

If you want some great tunes from an emerging, rising UK band, then get this in your ears. I’d thoroughly recommend it!
