This opens with some really nice jangly guitar strumming that lays down the foundations for what is to come.
It’s miles away from what we’re used to from this band who are reknowned for their energetic, charismatic hard rocking style and, the first ballad so, what did we think…
The vocal was almost nervous as it came in and I felt that this gave a really vulnerable side to the track. It was as if, he was opening himself up and exposing his inner self through the lyrics. As the song built, the emotion grew and, once it was chorus time, it was like he was pouring his heart out to the listener.
Musically, there was a maturity to it if you like. It was solid, rhythmic and the guitar melodies were superb and the perfect compliment to the singing. Special mention has to go to the solo which gave it shades of CC Deville style emotion.
Anything else? Yeah actually… I thought the backing vocals were stand out awesome and the way this continued right to the end with the ad-libs gave it that classic ending and one of the best fade outs ever.
